Overview
Canadian citizens and permanent residents aged 18 or older can sponsor certain family members for permanent residence. The sponsor signs an undertaking to support them financially. Spousal and common-law sponsorship can be filed from inside or outside Canada, and parents and grandparents are sponsored through invitation rounds when IRCC opens them.
Who it's for
- Spouses, common-law and conjugal partners
- Dependent children
- Parents and grandparents (when invitation rounds are open)
- Orphaned relatives and other limited cases
How we help
- The heart of a spousal file is proving the relationship is genuine. We help you organise photos, communication history, joint finances and statements into evidence an officer can follow.
- We advise on inland or outland processing, including open work permit eligibility for spouses already in Canada.
- For parents and grandparents we check the income requirement before you commit, and suggest the Super Visa when sponsorship is not open.
Program rules, fees and processing times are set by the Government of Canada and change often. Check the official IRCC information page, or ask us for advice on your situation.
