Citizenship & Status

Canadian Citizenship

Take the final step and become a Canadian citizen.

Overview

Permanent residents can apply for citizenship once they have been physically present in Canada for at least 1,095 days in the five years before applying and have filed taxes where required. Applicants aged 18 to 54 must also show language ability and pass the citizenship test.

Who it's for

  • Permanent residents who meet the physical presence requirement
  • Families applying together, including minor children

How we help

  • We review your travel history carefully, because errors in the presence calculation are a common reason for delays.
  • We prepare the application and help you get ready for the test and interview.

Program rules, fees and processing times are set by the Government of Canada and change often. Check the official IRCC information page, or ask us for advice on your situation.
